This performance acts as a moving surrealist image dealing with various queer personas/characters. The visuals are from dreams I’ve had. I interact with a video projection that acts as a backdrop/set that changes constantly (much like a dream sequence). A soundtrack with dialogue and lulling electronic music plays throughout. Sculptures/objects are used as props, characters, and products. At one point the dream sequence rolls over into an overdramatized infomercial and the performer is trying to sell the sculpture/product to the viewer.
The performance closes with a sewn fabric swan that has been inflated by balloons. The swan is ridden around the space; usually there is laughter from the audience/viewer. Eventually the swan deflates and is left lifeless on the floor. In the Greek myth “Leda and the Swan” Zeus takes on the appearance of a swan and rapes Leda. In my action of riding and conquering the inflatable swan I am flipping the myth on its back and closing the performance with dark humor.
