HighFemme (in my opinion) refers to a queer person, who exhibits exaggerated ultra-feminine behaviors, expression, and décor of the body. Hobbit refers to a whimsical being who tends to dwell in domestic cave-like spaces. It also refers to a Munchkin cat: A breed of cat that is distinguished by their remarkably short legs. This is caused by a naturally occurring genetic mutation. One of the images on fabric is my hand with acrylic fingernails petting my cat, Mr. Teenie’s head. The photo is sewn and stuffed giving the image a topographical lift.
Whoracle is HighFemmeHobbits accomplice/dominant companion. Whoracle refers to a slutty oracle or Priestess whose divine use of her body is exchanged with the gaze and sometimes-monetary grant from the viewer. This second sewn and stuffed image is of Bertha (a French bulldog) licking the shoe on my foot.
As a cat art enthusiast I am inspired by the ongoing discourse with my two cats. They are the innocent eyes in my work and they teach me how to encounter my surroundings with an alert and playful curiosity. My sculptures become attractants for humans and cats.
